Can a US-bought BlackBerry Storm work in Australia? - Cnet Asia
The BlackBerry Storm in the US has the model number 9530. It is sold by the operator Verizon and works in both CDMA and GSM environments. Verizon operates a CDMA network in the US and the GSM/HSDPA support added to the Storm 9530 lets its users roam in Europe and Asia. The Storm sold everywhere else has the model number 9500 and doesn't come with a CDMA radio.So, technically, you will be able to use the US version of the Storm almost anywhere in the world if you are roaming and paying roaming charges to Verizon.
But if you want to use it like any other mobile phone in your local network, it might not be so simple. For one, the device will be locked to the Verizon network, so you can't simply insert a SIM card from an Australian network operator in there and expect it to work.
Even if you have gotten Verizon to unlock your particular device (this will cost you a bomb because you will need to buy it without a contract), your operator in Australia might not let you make full use

I received the item in a timely manner, but the item that is being advertised by Zenith is incorrect. The item should be listed as used. The item was not in retail packaging, it had scratches all over it, and the copper connection pins had scratches which means they have been used before. The item was re-shrinkwrapped to make it seem new, but common guys, get real! The battery does work, but for a used one, this is way over priced. Buyers BEWARE!!!!
Item was ordered from seller alwayzonsale (with Amazon fulfilling the order) with the expectation that the battery would be new in its retail packaging as described. As it turned out, what I received was a used battery (clearly indicated by scratch marks and chips along the edges of the battery) packaged in a small clear bag taped with scotch tape and labeled with the item number marked NEW. The battery itself was made in China, of inferior quality as oppose to Japan which my original blackberry had supplied. In my opinion, use the extra dollars and purchase the official battery from the blackberry website instead of wasting headaches and your time to return a useless battery that is not new whatsoever. Take heed and Godspeed.
Lithium batteries have alimited life of about 3-years, so correct recharging is essential to maximum usage. This spare battery allows me to cycle the original battery and this one to keep them effectively charged to assure that they last as long as possible. Buying a fresh battery from the RIM source is important. I am very pleased with this one. Don’t buy cheap lithium batteries or extra spares that you do not use. In 3-years they are dead, regardless.
